Galen was born in a coastal city Qingdao, China. He came to Canada in 2016 and completed his Bachelor of Science (honours) degree in Chemistry major and mathematics minor at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. At the home institution, he finished his undergraduate thesis under Prof. Jessop’s supervision in investigating the potential synergistic effect between CO2 expanded liquid and CO2 switchable water.

His next goal is to work under Prof. Moores as a Ph.D. student to study fully mechanochemical routes to produce chitosan and its functionalized material from bio feedstock of chitin. In his private hours, he likes traveling or hanging around with his camera.
